During the Summer of 2021 I took the Hall of Fame of Vacations. We visited the Baseball Hall of Fame, Football Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We also visited Notre Dame and Niagara Falls on this vacation. Be sure to check out the website I created at www.patmoriarty.com/vacation-2021
This was simply the best game of the season. Unfortunately, it was the last good game of the season. The Cubs dug a hole in the top of the first inning by giving up four runs only to come back with a five spot in the bottom of the inning. The Cubs went on to score 17 runs with Anthony Rizzo hitting a grand slam. This is the game that I will think about all winter. Continue reading
Rain and a loss. Some days you just do not have it and this was one of those days. The Braves were in town and so were our Brave fan friends which made this loss a little harder. Despite the loss we had a great time with friends. The Cubs lost the game 8 to 3.
I got to see the best player in baseball play at Wrigley Field, Unfortunately, Mike Trout was playing for the Angels. Lucky for us Mike Trout played as a mortal and the Cubs won 8 to 1. Continue reading
It finally happened – Tommy and I traveled into the belly of the beast – or what is commonly referred to as St. Louis. Only thing we wish was that the Cubs would have shown up. The Cubs lost both the games we attended and made us glad we were headed back to Chicago the next day for a game. Continue reading
After two cool evenings of baseball we finally reached Summer weather (on the most part). The Cubs took on the Phillies and spotted the Phillies three early runs before taking control of the game. Cole Hamels and Tyler Chatwood each pitched four innings before Steve Cisheck closed it out for a Cubs win. Continue reading
The unseasonably cool and damp weather might have been a precursor for the evening. The Cubs took an early lead against the Marlins only to have the bullpen give up the lead for my first Cubs loss of the season. Despite the weather and the loss we had a great time sitting in the bleachers.
The day we waited for all winter – our first day at Wrigley Field in 2019. After the annual visit to the World Series Trophy we headed inside and were pleasantly surprised by most of the improvements in the upper deck.
The Cubs did not disappoint, despite a late Dodger rally, with a 7 to 6 victory. Continue reading
Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati Reds – June 23 and 24, 2018
The drive to Cincinnati should have been a precursor to the baseball. The drive down was met with serious downpours of rain and construction backups. The baseball did not get any better as the Cubs were losers of the two games we attended and were swept by the Reds in the four game series. Continue reading
Walk Off Grand Slam Win!!!!
This was a fantastic end to a game the Cubs almost let get away. Jason Hayward crushed a 2-2 pitch to hit a walk off grand slam into the bleachers. Continue reading
